Day 6 - 30th June
We were told a Tuk Tuk will pick us up @ 11.30pm but the tuk tuk hadnt turned up and soon it was 11:45pm - we were really starting to get worried that we'd miss our night bus but then a Tuk Tuk came to our relief.
Managed to catch our night bus and to our surprise the seats were huge and comfortable - so we were pleased.
As soon as the bus left, we both fell asleep.
Woke up, arriving at Phnom Penh and everyone seemed to be getting off.....Ross and William looked at each other as if puzzled to why everyone was getting off - thought it was gonna head straight for Sihanoukville! There was another confused girl next to us and we asked her if she was going to Sihanoukville - which she said yes. She asked around and apparently we had to get off to catch a different bus.
Whilst the next bus wasn't due till another hour, Ross & Will then went to a nearby bar to get a drink and invited the girl along. The girl was called Gina from Switzerland and had been travelling on her own.
Finally we caught our bus but after it had stopped numerous times to pick other people up at different places within Phnom Penh - we then had to all get off and get the 3rd bus which was heading for Sihanoukville!! It was all so confusing and we were lucky to have Gina with us who could hear the bus driver giving instructions to change buses.
4/5hours later we arrived in Sihanoukville and was already bombarded with hostel leaflets, trying to get you to choose their hostel. Ross, Will & Gina shared a Tuk Tuk and went for the hostel called 'Big Easy' for USD3 per night.
Had a shower, nap, something to eat and just chilled all afternoon.
In the evening, we went to have a look on the seafront where the bars were and have a few drinks - on our way, there was a group dressed up in Halloween clothes, giving out leaflets inviting us to their bar. One guy saw Ross and said "Hey you is sexy, come on down to our zombie night party" (shaking his hips side to side with his hands behind is head).
A few paces down the road, Ross said to William "seriously all gay people fancy me!!! Why!?!" William & Gina just laughed.
We walked along the seafront and saw a lively party going on and decided to go in. It was the zombie night party bar. We had our face painted and ordered a drink and the staff there were very friendly. Two of them had seen Will and Ross signing and came over and suddenly started signing albeit in a different language. They were two German girls (Malin & Lisa) who had been over in Thailand working in a deaf school for a few months and the children had been teaching them sign language. So as you can imagine Ross & Will were signing away to Malin & Lisa as well as drinking and dancing.
Another staff called Tia invited Ross, Will & Gina to come round to her restaurant the next day @ 3pm and said she will cook us dinner and play pool with us.
So all in all it was a brilliant night and we've made friends with lots of friendly people.
