We learned last night that this area is known for its extensive cave systems. There were camps filled with people who were there spelunking, not mountain biking even though there is an IMBA epic a short ride out of camp. We were convinced to take the tour of an hour to see one of the top five caves in the US. This cave tour totally redeemed the previous one. This cave was called the dripstone tour. It opened up into a huge room called the cathederal room. Amazing stalagtites and stalagmites have fromed over the last 300 years. Discovered in 1963 the limestone system creates calsite which is the remainings of a secondary formation is left behind. Extremly brittle and weak its amazing how some of these structures even exsist.
The main pillar is six stories high and would take 33 humans linking hands to reach around it. Each room was as large as Heinz Hall. This was by far the largest cave I have ever been in. Very cool Spot
