Left the villa at 9am to get on boat back to Padang Bai. So sad to go and say goodbye to all our friends! Met a great couple from Perth also staying there Heather and Steve, nicest people so will stay in contact with them. Met another awesome Muslim at the marina Ferdie, he works for Wahana boats and showed me a trick balancing a bottle on the tip of another bottle, that's how we started talking. He wanted me to stay on the other island Gili T for one night so he could take me fishing but I have plans to meet the others at their hotel The Bounty in Kuta this arvo, but got his email if I want to go back. He works for an Australian Mark! Fancy that! On the boat I sat up top this time and met a group of Polish people that were lovely, showed me a map of Poland and told me where to go and what to do when I visit there. They are actually both living in the Netherlands working. Then ended up meeting another group this time English; Chris, Clare, Faye and Dan. Unfortunately they are leaving to go to Singapore in the morning or they would have been fun to party with. I had an interesting conversation for the duration of the trip with Chris who is 1yr away from becoming a doctor( going to specialize in palliative care for the NHS in Britain), about monarchy, capitalism, heritage, politics, and democracy. Finished with a mimic of each others accents that had us in absolute stitches. Convicts, communism, history, republic debate, law and so many things were on the agenda it was so nice to meet other people who actually think about things that matter! Lost my hat in the wind which was quite funny as about 5 passengers almost caught it for me before it went overboard. Must get to Gili as it looks special when we stopped there to pick up more people. Party island I'm told. The whole island thing is just so cool I could definitely live that lifestyle. Got to Padang Bai and got on my shuttle bus after fighting through the throngs of people! Apparently August is the busiest month according to the driver he told me he was f*****g stressed. First time I have heard a Balinese person swear so bloody funny, they generally don't stress! Met a lovely girl sitting next to me from Germany and there is another guy from Norway sitting next to me and it seems we are all travelling alone. Made me feel like I'm actually finally TRAVELLING! Now in Denpasar and the traffic is INSANE> I've never seen chaos that works so well except for in my head LOL! No order whatsoever! Love it. Going back to Murdi and Suri's to freshen up first and get the scooter to go into Kuta and hang with Nic again until my dinner date with my lovely friend from the airport Milly and her Balinese bf Miko. Can't wait to get to know her better she comes from Seacombe Gardens in Adelaide soo... well it is a bond here in Bali, coming from the same backwash as Adelaide. It is where I grew up and I may not have been born there but hey, it is my heritage nonetheless, so I'll claim it! I'm meeting them to go scootering in mad as Kuta and they are taking me out for dinner. Cool. Can't wait to be shown around by my hosts next week and Milly and Miko this week. Nic is here for another 7 days yet, so will be playing in the sun with her too until she goes. She rocks! Oh one thing I haven't mentioned is the amount of kites here in Bali they are obsessed with them and when you look up at any given time you will see at least 50 in the sky , noisy they are too. Forgot to tell you all about my star( bintang in Indonesian, also the name of the most popular beer here!) experience on the scooter with Hassan last night coming home. Spectacular as they are very different to the Southern sky , so as we were riding I was leaning back and just looking up; WOW so clear and there is three stars in a large triangle that face west, I think that I can see everywhere here. I must find out if this constellation has a name and learn the stars of the Northern hemisphere. It is quite strange looking up and NOT seeing the Southern cross or the saucepan, they are so familiar. Change is good J. Went to Bounty Hotel, but they were out so I went exploring and brought Brad a pair of white Vans for $27! He will love them and brought myself a bottle of Eternity for $23. I then sat on the beach and watched everybody partying and it looked so relaxed yet busy. Michael Jackson was playing and I watched the sun set and rang Brad and my friend Emily back in Australia whilst there. Then went and waited for Miko and Milly, while waiting talked to my friend Made who is security at Burger King and his friends about religion...again. Milly and Miko took me to a lovely cheap place where the food was brilliant(I'm actually yet to have a bad meal in Bali yet!). Whilst there I met an older Aussie couple who have just moved here Craig and Julie and swapped numbers to get info from them on all the things I have to have in order to get permission to stay here and work or start a business. As for Milly and Miko, I LOVE them, they are great people. I have a feeling that the three of us will become good friends. I had sooo much fun riding around with them on the scooters, they took me to the busiest nightclub strip on the way back to the Bounty and we organized for us all to have brekky bout 11am and spend the day on the beach, perhaps a massage and my first tattoo or a surfing lesson I think. They escorted me home so I didn't get lost. I am a pro scooter rider and feel like I have been riding one my whole life. They are also going to take me to their dentist to get fillings and have my teeth whitened all for under $100. I can't tell you how much I love Bali so far and the whole travelling experience, just so exciting, and I feel alive!
