Well we left Perth after having a delicious home cooked meal by Donna and Carl the night before and had a great time with them. We made our way to Donnybrook where we caught up with some friends of mum and dad, had we not done this we would never of discovered the most amazing playground. Lachlan could not wait to get out the car and we spent quite a lot of time there, we also had a great camp spot 100m away from the playground and all to ourselves for a while.
We made our way to Margaret River stopping at the Cape naturaliste national park on the way and the lighthouse. My how the landscape has changed it is so green and beautiful in the this region to one side is magnificent coast and beaches, then head inland about 15km and vineyards and forest dominate the land. In M. River we went to a number of things including winery's, cheese factory, berry farm and our favorite the chocolate factory, with lots of free samples. We also made it to the Yallingup maze where of course we got lost, but clearly that is the idea and we weren't the only ones. However the highlight for us was going into the Ngili cave, we expected to be in there about 30 mins, we emerged 1.5 hrs later from 38 m below ground and were blown away by the size of the cave and the amount of crystal formations, it really was quite a sight to see.
Next stop, Pemberton where we had a tram ride and climbed part way up the bicentennial tree. The plan was for Trent & Lachlan to climb to the first platform where Trent would come down and then I would go up and come back with Lachlan, however I of course got to spooked and only made it about 3 m, so poor Trent had to go back up the 28m to bring Lockie down, who by this time was also spooked from being left 28m up a tree with very little in the way of secure caging around the metal pegs that lead to the top. Lockie's legs were like jelly on his return and was glad to be on the ground, by the way the trees were 60m tall and used to check for bush fire from the 1940's, i can't imagine sitting up there all day, but they did.
We also did the boardwalk through the valley of the giants, this was alot easier even Lyla managed this in her pram, despite being 40m high, it helps having a solid boardwalk. We finally caught some fish here for our tea a delicious trout for each of us, oh did I mention we went to a trout farm.
On to Albany where we had a leisurely bike ride and went to the whaling world, we spent the best part of a day here and had a good time and learnt a lot about our gruesome whaling history. We are now in Ravensthorpe and our about to depart for Esperence to watch the footy grand final, big betting going on here, $2 bets winner takes all. Will be home in 2 1/2 weeks see you all then.
