Visited the city market yesterday, Mercado Municipal, which has an enormous diversity of aromas, flavours, sights and sounds that is such a good demonstration of the culture, really good fun! There wasn't as many people as i've seen before in the market but i think that's because they were all out on the streets of Rua 25 de Marco, it's famous for discount-shops, street vendors selling an abundance of things, all sorts of bric-a-brac. Lets just say that the products are sometimes less than the real thing, lol :) I managed to pick up a very nice adidas sports watch for a bargain, was an interesting experience. On the way out of themarket and Rua de Marco we went passed all the costume shops which are filled with sequins, beads, fancy dress, all for carnival - coloursa and fsabrics and all was something out of this world. Quite funny really to just see a street just full of costume shops and then another street just selling shoes etc. whereas in England competitors tend to spread out, here there is an entirely unlogical way of doing things , i suppose it makes it very easy for the customer to find a specific product and the best price. I'm yet to find the street selling just shoes, but I don't think it will take me long to find :)
