...well it's my fourth week in Brazil and i've got the tiniest change in colour to my skin, i think off-white is going to be the closest i get to a tan but still i have to say i'm loving the sunshine. Today i've just had a chilled day saundering around Paulista, i've got a cold (thought i'd escaped them but no, even in tropical weather i manage to catch one, lol) - think it's from school, so lovingly past on by stuart :) Today i claimed Livraria Cultura as my local - coffee and books, was heaven and certainly a cultural experience. One thing i'm learning is that being in a busy city with so many people on the streets there is little awareness, and so if i'm not watching where i'm walking it is quite possible that someone will walk into me without having been previously in my path, lol. Yesterday it absolutely poured down on my way back from the city, i looked a little like a downed rat and there is photographic evidence but i'm not sharing :) anyway I had to be even more alert and conscience of my life with people who can not only not get out of their own or mine, but also have head spiking umbrella's, lol :) Never had to exist with so many people, each with the own objectives....i'm enjoying myself nonetheless, nice to have the freedom to just explore.
The museums are great, went to MASP last week and they even had a painting name MS. Aimee, i felt honored even if it was painted before i was born, lol :) I've started a cultural photographic project to try and capture some of the essence of Sao paulo, so watch this space :) Had Feijoada at the weekend on the coolest street - Avanhandava, which is owned by one family i believe who have a number of cafe's, restaurants and shops along the street all different types of food. Feijoada is pork slowly cooked (any part of the pig inc. tail, tongue etc.) with black beans and rice - was so good, i wasn't into the tongue and tail i have to say but the ribs were nice :) Beans and rice being the stable are so good, definately have to get them at home - especially with my learning on how to good them brazilian style on friday :) Still obsessed with the fruit market, don't know what it is but on a friday i love getting pastel and maracujá, in addition to sugar cane juice :D
Tomorrow i'm heading to Luz, which i'm told is one of Sao Paulo's oldest areas, it has a lot of museums and venues that apparently reflect much of the coffee wealth of the country - i've visited the Pinacoteca do Estado before so looking forward to seeing the new exhibitions with rodin's pieces - i'll keep my photo's updated :)
