Title: Arrival in Bermuda
I had the mid watch last night and I was hoping to see the Bermuda glow from 60 miles out but I saw nothing.
This morning I had the 0900 to 1200 and finally spotted land from about 10 miles out.
Two hours later we were docked at Ordnance Island and checking in to customs.
My first task was to find a place to dock. There were no spaces available because everybody has been holed up here to wait for a break in the weather. Anyway, wouldn't you know that the first yacht I hailed to ask permission to raft up to, I knew the owner, Dave, from when I was taking my RYA Day Skipper course in Tenerife, Canary Islands. So we rafted up to Dave.
Next I had to find 20 amp fuzes for the solar power controller. I found some at the fuel dock but when I brought them back and Martyn inserted it into the controller, it blew immediately. So we have a major short somewhere.
We decided to go for a cup of coffee and tackle the problem in the morning, hopefully when it wasn't raining out.
After coffee, we went back to the boat and Susy and Martyn decided to walk up to the Yacht Club to do laundry and shower. I decided to go to the Mini Yacht Club and have a beer.
I only met one guy, named Collin, that I met last year. Pattie, the Commodore, was at a meeting. I finished my beer and walked over to The Tavern By the Sea to check email, write to my wife and bring my blog up to date.
Shortly after, Martyn and Susy came in for dinner and I joined them. They had walked up to the yacht club for showers and laundry which was successfully completed.
