Trailor on Tour
Hi, here's hoping you all had a lovely Christmas and that all friends and family are safe and well following the awful tragedy on Boxing Day.
Christmas Eve we all went to a church service at the Town Hall, which was nice as it was the first time I'd heard carols this year. From there we headed to the pub and stayed until they threw us out at just gone midnight.
Christmas morning and we were up bright and early(ish), but I wasn't allowed to open any presents until Aunia (Richard's sister) arrived and she had got lost driving out of the city, so it was 11 by the time we started unwrapping. I had lots of parcels and Richard had wrapped all the ones that had arrived in the post - thanks to everyone who sent cards and presents, it made it feel far more Christmassy, although I did get an abundance of pants. These came in varying shapes and sizes, as you can see from the photo - everything from pulling pants to ones that could almost double as a bra they come up that high! I also got some clothes, perfume, Vegemite and hair straighteners - more pampering.
By the time we had finished the unwrapping frenzy, it was about 1130 and we were really hungry, so let the eatingfest begin. The Champagne breakfast was lovely consisting of ham, poached eggs and home made tomato chutney and the obligatory Bucks Fizz. It was then a rush to get out as lunch was booked for 1330, but we made it only to be greeted by more Champagne and yet more food. For starter I had the best scallop dish I have ever tasted, followed by the more traditional turkey and Christmas pudding and many different wines, including one of my favourites, Cloudy Bay, from New Zealand. By the time we had finished gorging ourselves it was nearly 1900 and we took a much needed leisurely stroll home.
We were all invited to a couple of parties, but Richard was the only one who seemed to be running on Duracell batteries, because the rest of us lay down, although I did venture round the corner to the 2nd party to meet Rich at about 2230, but I was home and tucked up by 0100 after a thoroughly enjoyable, if different Christmas Day. Thankfully the temperature only reached about 25 degrees, as last year it was in the 40's.
Merry Christmas, Sherry xxxxx
