Trailor on Tour
Hello from a very relaxed, bathed, less spotty Sherry. Thankfully the spots seem to be on the retreat and hopefully I won't be left looking too scabby for Christmas Day. I have managed to catch upon my laundry, sleep, reading and now my e mailing with any luck.
On Friday I agreed to work to help out a friend of Richard's, who was in dire straits due to the festive season. Tanya, the friend, picked me up at 0915 for the drive to a shopping centre in Bondi, where we started work at 1000. The centre was fairly small and our job was to prepare food from various shops within the centre - the butcher, fishmonger, greengrocer, butcher and delicatessen. I had to wear a black chefs jacket and a Santa hat - hey, at least no-one here knows me!! We prepared many types of fish, meatballs, salads, fruit, etc and it was all served up in little plastic pots for the masses to sample. During all this, Tanya was on the microphone prattling on about what we were serving and where it could be purchased. All that experience with my little brother paid off - I knew what to do!! We spent 4 hours there and it was like feeding time at the zoo - it was enough to put me off any of the food. Some people actually spat the food out in front of us - lovely. For the 4 hours I will get about $100 - not bad for just smiling at the old dears who seemed to think that we were serving free lunches.
Apart from that little foray into the world of working, and it's been a while, I have been making the most of having the house to myself. The dogs are low maintenance, they just need feeding morning and evening and letting out in the garden. No walking necessary and being the animal lover that I am, I can't even remember their names, mind you I think they are odd ones. However, I think they are cocker spaniels, but don't hold me to that.
The reason for the pitcure is that in the past week two people have died in shark attacks, one in Adelaide and one in Perth. Needless to say, I have been given strict instructions by my mother not to go in the water beyond knee depth. I adore the sea and she knows this, hence the order, which I have promised to obey. Some very popular beaches have shark nets and boats and planes patrolling, but even these aren't infallible. The latest victim was an 18 year old who was out in a boat with 3 mates. The government have sanctioned the destruction of the great white, but the boys family will not condone this action as the shark was merely surviving.
Anyway, I forgot to mention that I went to see Ocean's Twelve when I was in Alice. My spots were really bad at the time and the cinema seemed like the ideal place to hang out as it's both dark and air-conditioned. Worth seeing, very far fetched storyline, but highly entertaining, oh and Brad and George are looking particularly delightful.
Must dash, as off to buy Christmas booze and treats for Richard's return tomorrow. He has received some post for me, but is being mean and has hidden it until Christmas Day. S xx
