Jack and I began the day with peanut butter sandwiches and crisps before a trip to Lilongwe's huge market to find items for a 'Pimp party' for one of the camp's workers (Brian).
I haggled a local from like 900 to 500 for a cool 50 Cent-like cap and Jack bought a pink bandana (which he then pussyed out of wearing).
As seen as we had done very little in Lilongwe, we caught a bus to Lilongwe Wildlife Centre where we encountered Nile crocs, a lion, leopard, hyena (which for the first one we'd ever seen was massive, vicious, snarling and prowling up and down like a dog in a kennel), baboons, various sizes and species of monkey, a python, deer and a wild monitor lizard running around. We hung about at the centre to wait for the feeding times, only to be hassled by loads of school kids asking about sports, our names, our homes, etc. Eventually, we shook them off and got to see the baboons and monkeys eating wheelbarrows full of watermelons, mangoes and bananas (which I wouldn't have minded!), as well as the hyena chomping on some meat. The lion and leopard weren't so fussed about their food and were a tad shy.
The trip left us satisfied (having paid less than four quid each) but also well sunburnt as the weather seemed like it was picking up.
Everyone in Malawi supports United. Pees me off. I can't write swearwords or this sight blocks it! But yes, United and the odd Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. They know nothing else. I've tried to spread Yiditus but it's just not catching on....
On our return to Mabuya Camp. it was time to party. I donned most of my own clothing but tried to look like a gangster (did a fairly good job) but a lot of people just couldn't be assed. Still, at least I wasn't an outcast (you should see a few photos).
Met a 30-year-old from California who hung out with us and the medical girls we made friends with, before we were joined by Afrikaans, Canadians, Kiwis, Aussies etc. There were well over a 100 people at the camp. Met a girl who turned out to know some people I know back in Worcester and worse of all, the girl lived opposite my grandparents whom I always visit!
If that wasn't weird enough, we then met a girl from Evesham. The world's not big enough for my liking!
Spent the night wasting money on Jagermeister, Carlsberg and Carlsberg special brew (which is all they pretty much drink here in bars), as well as a bit od v-redbull. Played a lot of pool, danced a bit, and ended up in the pool - but this time with clothes on. Some Canadian we had played rugby with days prior, was playing a guitar and singing which was really awesome and a guy from Brighton I met was dressed as a hoe asking how much I would pay for his services.
Stayed up until about 5am drinking gin and whatever before saying adios to our medical friends. Jack and I scammed out of paying for a nights accommodation by leaving our gear in a locker and staying in the girls room for a few hours once they had gone.
As for Brian - he was dressed as a pimp in white, wasted, lapdancing for all the girls with his clothes almost off, showing his prince Albert and tattoo of a wordsearch he designed on his ass and then wore a mankini into the pool and trying to frolic with the girls. A good birthday for him I thought....
