Paid off our bills at Mayoko - which they squeezed an extra 16.5% for every food order and a 1% service charge on every drink. However, at 28,000 me and Jack couldn't believe our bill, so I worked it all out and pointed out their mistake - overcharging us nearly 8,000 (35 quid!).
We decided to help out Shawn and Will by sharing a taxi back to the capital so they could catch their respective flights. They paid 12,000 each and we paid 4,000 so was a good deal instead of catching several crappy buses!
We sacked off the idea of visiting the islands after being told that the ferries were horrible and expensive and that we would have to spend a week in some of the islands before another ferry would return!
For our taxi to Lilongwe, the dumb locals who brought their tiny Toyota Starlets to fit 4 people and 7 huge bages in, tried with exactly the same in another tiny car. Hilarious to watch, we just let them do it again as they wouldn't listen!
Eventually they decided that the 4x4 monster was perfect so we agreed a fee of 32,000 between us. (120 quid with me and Jack paying 20 each).
A short stop in Nhotakota provided us with a drink or two and I did my good deed by buying 4 rice and veg samosas which were really tasty! I bought 1 from each of four kids and gave them 20kw (9p) each, except 1 who had to suffice for 15!
We played pool back at our trusted Mabuya Camp in Lilongwe and saw our Scottish friends and Brian before calling it a night.
Oh - some drunk Afrikaaner was wasted and interrupted Jack and Will's card game and my letter writing, to help him set up his pool tournament which he had no idea what he was doing. He was a rude tw*t, and despite him asking me to play, Will and I were both a little peeved at his actions. One of his friends told me I should just smack him. That would have been satisfying....have found a lot of South Africans to be k*** out here but then again we have loads of sound friends from there who we are meeting soon!
