We woke up early, checked out of our lodge and headed to Mount John which we missed out on yesterday. We decided to have breakfast on top. Stevie's sister was sharing the driving with me so she would drive us to the top. After a shaky start as she hadn't drove a manual in 4yrs we got under way 5 stalls later and the gear box grinded down to dust. We got half way up before the mountain got to steep and the car started to roll backwards. Saving the life's of the Sparkes family I jumped into the driving seat and got us to the tippy top.
The views from the zenith of Mount John were amazing!! We had panoramic views of the vast land. Over looking the turquoise lake of Tekapo and enclosed by snow capped mountains it so picturesque.
There was a little cafe 'Astro cafe' and some observatories on the top. We had breakfast at the cafe and took in the scenery before we hit the road again.
The scenery didn't leave us. Grand snow capped mountains, raw jagged rock faces, vast green fields, rivers and open roads lead us all the way down into Queenstown.
On the main road into Queenstown stood a bridge that housed the worlds first commercial Bungey Jump at 43m. We pulled over to have a look. We booked a jump for Stevie's sister for her birthday. It was spontaneous but within 20mins she was on the platform. I was still way to nervous from the first time. I think the Nevis jump has given me a phobia.
Open air before her, Stevie's sister was was on the ledge. We all were watching from the side. She couldn't do it after the guy counted to 3. I remember being in the same position 2 weeks earlier. I didn't think she would do it. Then on her 3rd attempt she jumped....
Impressed and in ore. We flew down and bungeyed it was amazing. I thought she had fainted as she hung there motionless, but as the boat approached she reached for the stick.
What a way to enter Queenstown, home of the extreme!
We jumped back in the car and headed to the Motel, Checked-in we decided to look around Queenstown, We Showed Stevie's Mum and Sister the lake and local shops before heading out for dinner to discuss tomorrows plans.....
