Friday 29th March
Easter weekend we both had 4 days off so we decided to head to Sydney to catch up with Hannah and John, our friends from back home who now live there.
It was an early flight. we were up at 3am for our 6.35 flight, After a caffine kick we jump on the JQ140 flight and headed across the pond. Stevie said the terbulance was quite bad on the way out, I was so tired I slept for most of the 3.30hr flight. I was sitting near the window, as we approached Sydney I could see the complete city, it was not as i imagined, it was green, hilly and full of loads of bays. We finally touched down and the weather was perfect around 25 degrees. We headed to the train station and made our way to Bondi Junction to meet Hannah and John. The trains were double deckers, alot smarter than the London underground and less complicated. We finally met Hannah and John. After a brief catch up we headed out for the sites. First stop Sydney Oprah House! We got off at Martins Place Station and headed through the Royal Botanic Gardens. As we came around farm cove the Sydney Bridge and Oprah House came into view. I had finally made it here! It was busy, especially being Easter. The Oprah house looked smaller than I imagined. After a few tourist photos of us in front of the Bridge and Oprah house and looking around the Circular Quay. I managed to pick up a Australian badge for my backpack and Stevie got a few post cards.
We then ventured to Surry Hills for Lunch and saw the famous outline of Dasher the community dog that past away. Later that night we headed out for dinner to some middle eastern restuarant near Bondi Junction. It ended up being a really good night we some interesting food that was a tad expensive. Hannah and John headed to her brothers for the evening and we had the run of the flat for the rest of the night.

Saturday 30th March
We woke up early next morning to the sound of the Rainbow Lorikeet's, Colourful birds which I think are part of the parrot family. Stevie and I headed to the Westfields Shopping centre and hand a little shop before Hannah and John arrived. The weather was 25 degrees, It was the perfect opportunity to head to Bondi!!! We brought some beers and headed to Australia's most famous beach. We got a nice stop on the Grassy Knol. The view from here looked over the whole on Bondi Beach, the weather was amazing, girls in bikini thongs, beautiful beach .....it was amazing!!!! I must of been on the beach 10 seconds, before I was running into the sea to body surf the waves. We spend the whole day there. I was in heaven. There was this one girl that was wearing a thong (pic in album) which was amazing. raised many a smile. John and I went to the rocks, a infamous place where one walks along the rockpools, to the edge and when a huge wave comes you have to jump in overwise the wave will sweep you off your feet and brush you over the coral. I was going really well until I decided to leave. I got half way to head back when the biggest wave approached. I was too far to get back to the land and too far to get to the edge to jump in, I tried to grip my feet but it was to late. I got taken out. Swept under the water and across the coral, cutting my leg, foot and hand along the way, I tried to get control and anoter wave took me out. I could picture myself on bondi rescue. luckily I managed to get swept into a rock and climb on top. Enough fun for one day. We headed back for a more relaxing stroll along the beach. Later that night a group of us when out around Paddington. It was a really good night. We hit several bars until early hours before staggering home.

Sunday 31st March 2013
Hannah and John decided to take us to Watson's bay a peninsula at the end of South head that reaches into the Tasman sea. We walked around Green point reserve and stopped off for some fish and chips. We then headed to the Sydney harbour national park via camp cove and a weird nudist bay that was full of shaven old men just standing around watching us as we walked past. We stopped at the famous Hornby lighthouse (one of the oldest in Australia) and sat on the cliff edge looking out at the ocean.
The view looking back at the harbour gave us an amazing panaramic view of Sydney and the Bridge. On the way back we stopped off at Camp cove for Icecream. On the way back we went to the movies and saw The Host - the worst film ever. We finished the evening with Pizza watching some comedy charity event at the flat.

Monday 1st April 2013
Our last day in Sydney the 4 our us headed out for a Turkish breakfast and then headed off to Topshop and Topman to get some stylish clothes as there is not much to choose from in NZ. en route we passed a travel agent and in the doorway was a mid 20s woman bending over a desk to look at a booking showing the world what she had for breakfast. it was hilerious. Made my morning, After our mini shopping trip we spontaniously decided to go to the Sydney Tower it is Sydney's tallest free-standing structure, and the second tallest in Australia. As noted on Wikipedia It is also the second tallest observation tower in the Southern Hemisphe.
The views up there were amzing, we had a 360 degree of all of Sydney. We took loads of photos before heading down. Stevie and I had a 7pm flight so we headed back to Hannah and Johns to say our goodbyes and try and pack all our our shopping into our day bags before we headed off to the airport hoping we haven't gone over our 10kg limit.
Surprisingly our bags only weighed 5kgs. We both treated ourselves to some fragrance at the airport and flew back to New Zealand, The woman next to me fell asleep on the flight and as her top was not a good fiiting it ended up falling down so most of the flight she was sitting in her bra.... This was a good trip.
