Finally a good sleep, we slept long last night! It must have been the wine that didn’t wake us up until 8am this morning.
Lovely having a late pick up at 11am it meant that we didn’t have to rush around!
We walked over to the bus station with our bags after Ellie managed to zip here up. The mornings entertainment as always is watching her try to do that bag up haha.
She had the munchies today, I knew because she hadn’t stopped talking about pies and croissants before 9am. Granted we were at the bus stop a lot earlier than we needed to be but we weren’t used to having so much time to kill before jumping on the bus.
It’s just unlucky that our bus didn’t arrive until 11.45am instead of the supposed arrival of 11am. I hate waiting and it wasn’t boiling hot so we were a little cold dancing around and using laughter to warm us up. We are seriously going do lally - it’s worrying. If people hear us they’ll want to lock us up in hospital or something haha.
When the bus finally did arrive there were only 6 of us in total on it! And only four of us were crossing over to wellington on the ferry. They’re right by saying it’s quiet when you head north but god this was beyond quiet! Even the ferry was quiet of people and cars.
We didn’t get up to base hostel in Wellington until 6.30pm, even though we hadn’t done much today; waiting for buses and ferry’s and luggage just takes it out of you. The weather wasn’t great in Wellington either, the Windy City lives up to its name almost everyday of the year which makes it feel a whole lot colder than what it should be.
Our room was only a four bed, it looked like there were two slobs living in it long term, men’s clothes all over the floor and pouring out of their bags.
We popped into new world to get one of their delicious salads for lunch tomorrow and cooked up some vegetable stir fry in the filthy dirty smelly kitchen that was Base wellington and made you want to boff. I can’t even write about it because it makes me feel sick.
Shower and an early bed time to watch Netflix, the guy living on the bed above Ellie was a much older guy that by the sound of his god awful snoring when losing on his back that we could hear through our headphones on full sound... was probably in and around his 60s. What the hell was he doing in base? Before the snoring the sucking of Whittaker’s chocolate happened, that was enough to make us want to barf. Sounded like he got it stuck in his false teeth.
The guy below me didn’t get in until 12.30/1am... how did we know?
Because he turned the light on, he was banging around, coughing his guts up, in and out the room about three times and then he resulted in snoring to the top of his nostril noice, really getting deep from the back of his throat. We thought ole man chocolate sucker was bad above Ellie but he went quiet. It was the sod below me that was making the noise. Holy crap he was loud!! I was shaking the bed to wake him up for him to turn over... probably did that at least a handful of times throughout the night.
