Before we got on the road back to Kyarusozi, we stopped at the bungee jumping site so the nurse's could show the teachers up and bungee jump! It was crazy to watch them do it! We were able to walk up to the platform and video and take pictures. We have some great before, during, and after photos! The nurses all had a blast and I was quite close to changing my mind.
After, we fueled up with an omelette and toast and headed to the taxi park. We took a bus from Jinja to Kampala. As soon as we stepped off the bus in Kampala, it was a torrential downpour. We stopped on the side of the road to try and stay dry but had to keep walking to catch our bus to Fort Portal. The buses do not leave at scheduled times; however, they wait until the bus is full to leave. We made it to the bus at 2pm and thought we were just waiting for it to stop raining. OH NO…. we waited until 6pm to depart from Kampala. To top it off, we did not get out of Kampala until 8pm. The bus ride was cold with all of our wet clothes. We finally made it back to Kyarusozi around 12:30 pm. Almost, 12 hours on the bus! It was the definition of "Ugandan time". Everything is at a slower pace which is hard to adjust when we are used to being on the go—all the time.
Sidenote- when we were in the city of Kampala earlier that weekend, the people walk verrrrry slow. I couldn't help but break out my Chicago power walking and weave in and out of people.
