Day 3 in Seattle!
After having a lovely night at Pike Brewery, sleeping in was a complete necessity. At the ripe hour of 2 PM, we rolled out the hotel and headed towards downtown Seattle via the busline. We perused the local shops in and near Pike Place (again!). The two main tourist-y attractions of the day: Space Needle and the Gum Wall. Laura went up the Space Needle; I, however, decided not to. It was extraordinarily cloudy and visibility was particularly bad. The Gum Wall is known as the second most unsanitary tourist destination in the United States. It had been completely scraped clean twice, but Market Place Theater goers continued to stick there gum to the wall while waiting in line for a show. It is quite nasty but pretty awesome. My ocd-ness did not jibe well with adding to the wall, but I gladly took pictures of others doing so.
We headed back to the hotel before the Harry Potter midnight premiere to pack up our bags for the three nights on the ferry and roll up everything into the suitcase (successfully!). We met up with the same girls from Day 2 in Seattle at the theater. Within the first forty seconds, I am ashamed to report, I was tearing up. A tear or two may even have escaped. I wasn't the only one though! Don't judge me. Hands down the best movie. Ever. I highly recommend catching up on your Potter movies and seeing this one in theaters. If you are feeling froggy, go for the 3-D showing.
Tomorrow: catch the Amtrak train from Seattle, WA to Bellingham, WA at 7:30 AM and then hop on the Bellingham ferry at 3:30PM. ETA Juneau, July 18- 4AM.
