So i´ve made it to Spain, with not to many problems :S
so the story so far . . . after waiting until midnight to pack, only 5 horus before needing to leave for the airport, i think i have only left one thing behind - earphones, sure i can pick them up from somewhere here.
I´d been left an email telling me to sit under the tree and wait for someone to pick me up once i´d arrived. Simple? apparently it was, my flight arrived 20 mins early, my bag was 1st of the conveyer belt, and i found the tree with minimal effort, now the wait, which took nearly 2 hours before some1 arrived with a sign with my name on it.
John - very nice guy, drove me to my flat and offered to show me round at a later date once i was settled. Flat is also nice, although the bathroom is off the kitchen, which will always be weird. So I try to unpack, and the buzzer goes, no1 knows i live here but i answer it anyway. Random guy speaking in spanish (obviously) so i ignore it. Not even 5 mins later some1 is opening the door to my flat, panic? a women and man standing in my hallway, and all i can do is say "i can´t speak spanish" which for some unknown reason i say with a spanish accent - cause thats gonna help NOT!!! turns out they just wanna read the meter.
Went for a wee walk, and i came back to some1 on the floor below chatting away to me, once again in spanish. turns out, (i think) that i flooded her flat below when i managed to brake the toilet, and she has gone into my flat and switched the water off. She did manage to fix the gas oven for me, which I didn´t brake as much as just not aware of how to use. she is also my landlord, oops
Some1 has now been to switch the water back on, fix my toilet and give my hot water, all this without any spanish, and a little french, which i feel was more of a hinder than a help.
Jenny has arrived, my flatmate, she seems nice enough, done a fair bit of traveling herself, she did arrive at a complete random hour, and once again i answered the door to a random. Today we´ve just walked around, found our school, went to the supermarket to stock up on essentials, and worked on my tan in 32·C heat.
Think I sign my contract for my flat on friday, along with needing to go to the police station to registar and starting work, i´ve figured all this out with no Spanish, check me out lol.
Until next time
Adios
