Holy Mountain
Low lying clouds
Hides the holy mountains peak
A veil of mist
Hides its magnificence
Do you too wear a veil?
Tear down that veil
Reveal your magnificence
To the world
To Yourself
Wash the dust
From your feet
Put on your dancing shoes
Dance to your life
Celebrate your existence.

For some reason I never managed to rest easily last night and I don't think I got much more than an hour or two sleep. There was about 30 in the room but it was actually quite! And then there was five Anny Sandra from Canada, Patrick and Kate (20's) from USA and of course Emma from cork. Emma is a final year student in UCC and only came over for a week and on the last day she decided to stay on! I walk with Emma for the first 2 hours or so, we are then joined by Patrick and Kate. The pace is very slow and the youth are struggling so I power ahead on my own! I meet up with others on the trail at a coffee stop! I walk with Anny Sandra for a little while before going solo again. I didn't think I'd listen to music while walking but today for some reason I feel the need for music. I think the mind is racing so fast I can't make sense of anything so the music is a distraction and a reminder at the same time! I enjoy hours of Dire Straits, Coldplay, The Killers, Leonard Cohen and John Lennon.
I arrive in Najera about 8 hours after setting out this morning. The first half of the walk was urban or the path followed close to the motorway which did not make for very pleasant walking. The second half by contrast drifted away from the motorway and wandered through vine fields and wheat fields. Mountains came back into view and you could see mountains almost 360 degrees. With the weather a pleasant mid 20's the 32 km walk was fairly wrecking. My ankles are beginning to feel really bad, it seems that it's the bones in my foot are being crushed. Lets hope it doesn't get any worse or I need to rest up.
The albergue we pick is small, cosy and very nice, well worth €10!
The strange thing is that I love the country walking by day but once I arrive in the city / town I don't really have much interest in sight seeing and I am beginning to look at skipping both Burgos and Leon, by skipping I mean walk thru but not to stay in but Burgos is 3 days away so time enough yet to make plans.
And so an end to another lovely day on the Camino, different to the others but if every day was the same it would be very boring. This is anything but boring!!
Buen Camino
PS
There were loads of white butterflies around today, especially around the vine fields and it reminded me that 'if everything stayed the same there would be no butterflies'.
