Helloooooooo
We've just got back from a long weekend in Koh Tao so will update you on the past few days :D
Urmm I can't remember what we last wrote..wellll...Andy came to stay with us in Chaweng so we moved into the rooms literally opposite where we'd been living in Coconut Grove..the room was grimyy! Our bathroom door was too big for the frame so wouldn't shut..not cool! And all we could hear all night was some ladyboy cabaret show from across the street and the blaring music from a market stool selling fake CD's..it was so loud I had to whack out the ear plugs we got on the plane! Luckily we were only staying there one night
During the day we (me, char, andy, tet, skin & nath) decided to go Jet Skiing so we wandered along the beach while Andy tried out his amusing haggling skills on all on the jet ski people until we managed to get 25 minutes for 500 baht each (10 poundss..theres no freakin pound sign on this keyboard!) So we all got on our jet skis (me and skin were a little terrfied!) and zoooomed off into the sea..JET SKIING IS AWESOMEEE! was wellll fun! Skin managed to crash into nath at one point but there was luckily no damage..char and andy were sharing a jet ski and I ended up chasing after what I thought was them until I realised it was a different couple..ooops!
After our jet skiing adventures we went out for dinner at some crazyyy BBQ Buffet thai place that skin and nath had been to with their dads friend and his thai girlfriend..its not a tourist place at all so we got a few funny looks. This place is crazy though..you get a little bbq thats kind of shaped like a doughnut with a mountain in it (can't think how else to describe it!) and in the round doughnut bit you make you soup and the mountain bit you cook meat on..madness! Me and char had our own veggie bbq (which quite frankly was a relief seeing as the meat was pretty much unidentifiable and looked vile!) and filled it with various noodles and sweetcorn and crazy leaves and stuff..(char also thought it would be a good idea to throw in some bread in the hope they would turn into croutons..strangely enough, they didn't! and we were left with a soggy mess!) You also put in eggs to supposedly thicken the soup but we pretty much ended up with noodle soup and a bit of scrambled egg! Char loved it so we threw in some more eggs! The carnivores had an interesting array of meat..theres no labels on anything so its all a bit of a gamble on what ur eating..tet thought she'd found some crazy noodles..it turned out to be some kind of seaweed/looked like it belonged on the coral reef! Nastyy! It was all you can eat for 99 baht tho (2 pounds!) which is amazingly cheap and it was an adventure as well as dinner!
The next day me char and tet got a catamaran speed boat style thing to Koh Tao which is the best island for diving and snorkelling and such..we managed to buy our snorkels here (again andys haggling skills came in handy!) instead of renting them there. Carrying our bags is always an ordeal but we're getting better at it! The boat ride took about 2 and half hours and we arrvied hot and sweaty sometime (I really can't remember when) and headed to Mr J's (a place skin and nath had recommended)
Mr J is soo funny! He's some crazy old thai man who wanders around talking nonsense in a yellow hawaiian tshirt! His little 'reception/shop' area is covered in hilarious signs about random nonsense like reincarnation (english people are second to the top apparently, and he gives big respect to the queen mother for being vegetarian and living to 103 before going to heaven!..he also makes homemade condoms..buy 10..get 1 free!) We ended up with a room with a cold shower tho which was not cool, but we had all our regular TV channels plus a new one which shows pirate films :D When letting us into our room Mr J told us a few rules about the place..the best being 1. "if you are up late drinking and being noisy..come to me and get free pepsi!" and "get up before 10..free banana for all! unlimited bananaa!" he was funnyyyy
Our first full day we went to the beach and had a swim then went to play crazy golf (still not sure who won because after 18 holes of crazy golf in the heat we couldn't handle the mathmatics of figuring it out..I'm pretty sure it was me tho :D ) Then we went for dinner in an Italien and whilst eating it started pooouring with rain..like hardcoreeee amounts! was soo cool! Because Koh Tao is a pretty hilly place the streets (all hills) were just flowing with water..we got absolutely drenched walking home! Char was not amused. I loved it :D Then we sat in our room and dried off for a while before going out for cocktails
The next day we asked Mr J where we could go snorkelling and trekked it to a nearish bay which was beautifullllll :D It was a private resort thing but you can pay to use it, as soon as you stepped in the sea there were thousands of pretty fishies (altho I got bitten twice after calling a fish fat and ugly.. do fish even have teeth?!) We swam out a bit further and sat on some bamboo rafts they had (balancing was interesting..tet n char thought it was funny to keep chucking me off and we ended up turning one of them over so the gross seaweedy side was up..oops!) Then we headed back home and out for dinner
We got up this morning at 8 (ouchhh) and got the ferry boat thing homeeeeee (cos the weathers all rainy still the boat ride was very rockyy..char looked like she was going to vom! I got a bit wet!) Now we're back home at coconut grove and off out for Kris With A K's birthday (andys friend)
Love to alllllllll
