Well, today was our second and last day in Kaikoura! In the morning we visited the Limestone Caves which are just slightly out of the main town, and what a long walk it was away from the hostel! Like an hour down the main road! However because nobody else booked to go on a tour at the same time as us we ended up having our own private tour around the cave! It was really cool and super interesting! The cave was quite small but had LOADS of formations which were awesome to look at, we even got to touch one that had already gone black. Inside the cave there was even a tiny little cave about the size of my hand and the way the formations had grown liked like it had little chairs as if a fairy lived there. The tour lasted about 40 minutes in total which meant I had time to go to the local aquarium which is my favourite kind of place!
The aquarium was really small but had loads of little creatures to look at, like sea urchins and sea horses as well as some local fish and a lot of information about the whales.
We went for lunch at a little fish BBQ which was so good! It was right on the shore so we ate our final meal in Kaikoura in such a lovely location by the sea!
We then walked along the shore front for about half an hour before getting the bus down to Christchurch!
The hostel here is really nice too, we just cooked dinner and are going to watch a movie tonight!
Lots of love, Soph x
