This weekend we visited one of the 8 wonders of the world; Milford Sound! WOW! What a place! We arrived on Sunday night after a five hour drive from Wanaka and checked into the Milford Lodge (one of the only accommodation places in Milford! The town was tiny! We then went to the pub and had dinner before heading back to the Lodge! On Monday morning we woke up early to catch the first boat cruise of the day, the 2 hour journey was spectacular! We saw loads of waterfalls which wouldn't have been there if it hadn't been raining all night and into the early hours of the morning. Although the top of Mitre Peak was clouded over we still saw some amazing scenery! We also saw some fur seals, penguins and dolphins! That was my favourite part! Then we also went to the underwater observatory which is a floating building in the Sound. We saw some black coral which is actually white and also loads of little fish and a few sea urchins!
I learnt a few cool facts today so I thought I'd share them with you! Milford Sound is not actually Sound but a Fiord, New Zealand Fur Seals are not actually seals but a breed of sea lion and Black Coral is actually White!
Then we got back in the car for another five hour journey to Wanaka!
It's crazy that we only have 4 days left in New Zealand before travelling to the Cook Islands!
