Hue - Day 25 - 28
Hey all
Thanks for all your comments and emails! Keep them coming!! :)
We are currently in Hue at the moment. It's the first day the sun has peeped out from the clouds for about ten days!! Think we were starting to get SAD!!
The last hotel we stayed in was nice but very smelly of mildrew so its nice to be in a different fresh hotel.. was starting to worry that I began to smell of dampness. We arrived in Hue via the train from Danang. We were recommended the train due to the lovely views you get.. however we were sat on the wrong side of the train, going backwards, people had their curtains closed and my recliner chair happened to be broken so I was virtually horizontal.. only view was the ceiling. Chris though attempted to see out of the train and what he did see he said was breathtaking.
It's been different here in Hue, the feel and atmosphere. The city itself is large and very developed and a bit grey. I don't feel like its been as charming here and not too much to see except the tourist attractions. The citidel and emperors' tombs are pretty impressive. We have been hassled here much more than anywhere else in Vietnam and the cyclo driver's are pretty insistant and have been following us. I lost my temper with one when he kept following us in the rain on our way to the citidel.. he wasn't too impressed.
We've finally spoken to some other people too... :) it's harder to meet people when you are staying in private rooms in budget hotels then hostels.. I don't know how i am going to survive the year only speaking to Chris... hehehe We meet a guy that has been travelling for nearly two years and am jealous! he has given us some tips on where to go which is nice.
Tonight we have a flight to Hanoi which takes about an hour, We thought about taking the train but its takes about 12 hours and not too much cheaper either. I hope the weather is a bit better there but since it's further north I expect it is going to be cold. We are hoping to book a trip to Halong Bay and we are still pondering about going into the mountains (Sapa). We are worried about the weather there and the amount of mud and whether we would be able to do a trek or not.
Anyways take care everyone
Lots of love
