Da Lat Day 17 - 20
Hi guys,
We are just leaving Da Lat today after a few good days in the central highlands of Vietnam.
The journey up into the mountains was quite an adventure. We were packed onto a small mini bus with all our baggage piled up behind us. When we thought the bus was full and ready to go we were mistaken as the central isle in the bus then also became seating as well......leaving limited exit routes!
The road up to Da Lat was along a precarious pot holed mountain track during a massive downpour. The driver seemed to spend his time intentionally hitting big pot holes and then looking back to see the reaction of all the passengers, then laughing at as all, the dafty! Tina spent most of the journey singing along to English translated Andy Lau songs, this helped her enjoy the journey a little more but unfortunately made me feel even more ill.
The first full day (Day 18) we went on an easy rider tour, this is where two locals take us around on the back of their motorbikes. This enabled us to see all the stunning views around Da lat as well as seeing local coffee plantations, silk making, local veg and flower farming, tried some local rice alcohol (which I can still taste now! and not in a good way!), an awesome waterfall which we climbed to the bottom and huge fat Buddha. The guides were great and very informative, although mine had a slightly dirty sense of humour...which only added to the day!
Day 19 and half of day we just mooched about around Da Lat and took in a few local sights. This included seeing the crazy house, which is a house which is more like a mixture between Alice in Wonderland and the labyrinth, with hidden pathways and stairways in the shape of elephants etc. Its was a very odd place but interesting at the same time.
We are off to Hoi An now, hope you guys are well x
