Hoi An (Day 20 - 24)
Hi all,
From Da Lat we took a internal flight to Hoi An, which is back on the coast.. once we got here we were expecting hot weather but oh no it is very cold here and we have been layering up loads. Chris has even had to wear his thermal top but at least it has given his sun burn a chance to recover.
Since we have been here for a long stop of 5 days, we have been taking it fairly easy. On our first day here we spent the day in the old town, exploring the sights and taking in the atmosphere. It is lovely here and apart from the mounds of tourists and electricity pylons you can really imagine that the place is still very similar to what it would have been 200 years ago. Again everyone here thinks I am vietnamese but i am now slowly becoming less surprised when people start talking to me in vietnamese.
Yesterday (day 23) we woke up early 4.30am to go visit the sites of the cham hindu temples in My Son. The coach there took about an hour and once there we had a tour guide explain the sites to us. There is not much left anymore as most of it was destroyed in the vietnam war, a real shame as you could imagine that it would be pretty impressive but it's no Angkor Wat..... :) Still it was nice and tranquil set amidst lots of lush greenery in a valley. We got back quite early, had some breakfast and back to bed.
This afternoon we are going to hire some bicycles and go explore some of the surrounding countryside and ride to the beach to have a look around. Tomorrow we are to Hue, first a bus to Danang then a train to Hue.
Hope everyone is fine and dandy,
Let us know what you have been up to.. (i'm being starved of gossip here)
Lots of love
xxxxxxx
