Hanoi - Days 28-31
Hi everyone, hope you are all well and apologies for the delayed blog entries! From Hue we flew to Hanoi, the weather there is a few degrees warmer than Hue which was good because it was pretty chilly there!Getting into Hanoi was a bit of a shock as after being in the relatively small towns in central Vietnam, we were back into a major city and all the hustle and bustle that goes along with it. We spent the first few days in Hanoi trying not to be run over as the traffic once again is crazy. The pavement is mainly used for parking motorbikes so the roads are made up of a mixture of people, motorbikes, cars and cyclos....which makes walking around a little interesting at times! We have spent most our time chilling out and wandering round the city and taking in the sights and sounds of the old quarter as well as trying to organise our trip to Halong bay. We decided to drop the idea of going to Sapa in the end as we had so many mixed reports about the weather (including recent snowfall for the first time in 50 years!) and the state of the trekking routes, particularly bearing in mind Tina doesn't like to get her little feet muddy! On our final night before we headed to Halong bay we decided to go and check out the waterpuppets show, this is bit like a Vietnamese punch and judy in a paddling pool...well sort of anyway. It was a pretty cool evening and nice to do something completely different and get away from the traffic for an hour.
