Wed 19th.
Mondays blog is in my notepad elsewhere.
Yesterday was a challenging but successful day, from Street near Glastonbury to just south of Ross on Wye. Glorious day, sunshine nearly all the way.The Mendip hills were gruelling, but nothing like the climb to the Clifton Bridge in Bristol, which I could hardly manage walking, never mind cycling.
Crossing the Severn Bridge was interesting - it was a relatively calm day, but there was still a strong side wind - what it would be like with a high wind I dread to think.
High spot was having something to eat in the shadow of Tintern Abbey, which is very impressive.
Lots of bus loads of middle aged to elderly (mainly female) sightseers. I caused quite a few comments in my lycra - don't think I've ever been the centre of so much attention.
No punctures!
Welsh Bricknor youth hostel fitted the bill - beautiful setting.
Usual routine - shower, walk to pub, couple of pints and something to eat and back for early night.
Today has been a doddle. Only 35-40 miles along the Wye valley - beautiful setting and no time pressure. Lunch in a village pub where the local worthy was very impressed with our efforts - when I told him that we were staying in Leominster tonight he said that he had never been there - its about 10 miles away!
Arrived at youth hostel at 3.00 - 2 hors before it opend, which is why I am sitting in the CAB taking advantage of their free internet access.
My time is just about up, so will fill in the gap of Monday at another time.
