Today I had a leisurely morning then headed to the next suburb 'Wooloomooloo'. There wasn't really much there but I was mainly going there to try out a pie at 'Harry's Cafe de Wheels', which is an iconic pie cart, very famous landmark in Sydney! I had the Tiger special which was a steak pie, smothered in mash, then smothered in mushy pies and a hole in the top for gravy! It was delish, haven't had a pie that good in ages!
After my pie attack I headed over to Darling Harbour, first walking along Pyrmont bridge to get to it. I had only seen it in the nighttime and was dead impressed. It helped that the sun had made another appearance so people were chilling by the waters edge and having boat rides. Due to having my pie I wasn't hungry but if I was there was every food imaginable under one roof. If you werent happy with the food selection there was always a McDonalds or two to keep you happy!
I then headed out to Sydney Fish Market to have a peruse. It took a while to get there but I was very impressed. I have never been to a fish market so big...having said that I havent really been to many fish markets though! There was so many different types of fish and you could buy them fresh, frozen and cooked with chips. The thing that saddened me was there were tanks of lobsters who were happily playing away unbeknowest to them that that night they would probably be someones tea. I actually saw someone pick one out while I was there :-( I thought that I couldnt leave there empty handed so I picked one of the cheaper options - 200g of marinara mix for $2 - bargain! It had cod, tuna, squid, octopus and salmon amongst other fish! yum!
So I walked back to the hostel and attempted to type up my blog, I managed 5 days before I couldnt do anymore. It is quite difficult to continuously blog while you're out here due to having to upload photos, go on decent computers and general time constraints!
A couple of my roommates who I was very pally with had left that morning so I thought I was in for a quiet night, repacking my backpack and reading my book. However got dragged out by my other roommates, a sri lankan guy and a german guy, both spoke very good english altho at times the language barrier gets a little complicated! We got our free beer from the local bar then headed back to the hostel to drink cheap vodka, I thought I was safe as I wasnt drinking goon but it turns out germans don't drink the same as us, they don't really use mixers! bleurgh! Managed to crawl into bed at a unreasonable hour, luckily I had moved into a bottom bunk so very easy this time!
