Well, today was meant to be an easier day, and it was, right up to just after lunch time. By then we had completed 43 of the supposedly 65 miles to complete during the day, it was going to be a piece of cake.
Talking about cake, lunch was amazing. We stopped at the Combermere Arms and had a fantastic meal. The staff were asking all about our ride and why we were doing it etc etc. Two other groups of diners heard our story and both gave us cash to put toward the McMillan collection. There really are some lovely people in this world.
After lunch we set off again expecting the 22 miles to take us about 2 hours, getting us to our hotel by just after 4pm.
Sadly Mr Garmin decided that he wanted to lead us up the garden path and miles and miles off our route so we ended up on the busy A49 heading south, into a strong headwind, to try to get back on track, it was horrible.
By 5.30, the time we got to our hotel our easiest day had turned into our longest day of 73 miles and we were exhausted.
Our friends Rob Wardle and his family came to find us as they live close by and we had a lovely dinner at the hotel together and then early to bed.
Just a not on the attached picture, Carine wants her coffee, Jake wants a game!
