Friday night went to the walkabout pub with tammy (sposed to be an aussie hangout but wasn't)…
Sunday went to tower of london with tammy…had a great time - we had a tour with a beefeater dude who told us lots of gruesome stories about executions (it was actually rather vile) and went into the chapel there where two of henry VIIIs wifes were buried (anne boleyn and maybe katharine???)…then we looked at the crown jewels - interesting but not as much on display as I thought thered be - movies about them though…then walked through the white tower (the central part)…gun displays, armour from the kings, sculptures of their horses, lots from 1600s etc…had a scone with CLOTTED CREAM (im not really a fan actually - think I prefer whipped cream)Monday went to harrods with hayley (nz girl from amsterdam tour)…had a great time - walked around every floor…did not realise there would be so much egyptian stuff???? Theres a whole egyptian elevator and egyptian rooms where they just sell stuff presumably from there (did not recognise designers names)…went and looked at diana and dodis shrine - large pictures of them and all this glitzy fake plaster stuff in gold…even the fish tanks in the pet shop had egyptian ornaments like sphinxes etc…the most expensive thing I saw out of everything was a fossilised elephant tusk for 75000 pounds…amazing…they had a whole fossil room and a shoe boudoir and so many designers…I havent had a flu now for a while and am less blocked up - don't think the pollution agreed with me at first…What do I like? I like the wind rushing through the tunnels as a train comes through…the sound of the tube approaching…the fact that I don't have to smile all the time cos no-one else does…that I can read my book on the way to work or listen to music and chill out…I miss having a car but not so much for getting around as I think the transport here is awesome so much as missing the control factor for driving…a car would be nice for doing grocery shopping however…I like that there is so much to do here…I think I am seeing the sound of music in the west end on the weekend…and otherwise ill catch catherine, see if cambridge is going to happen…etc etc if anything time is too limited!!!!!!!I had a punnet of raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries, strawberries and probably some others I did not recognise from waitrose the other day…I think some of the ethnic food is a little more exciting than the standard british fare…specially the italian - speaking of which that's what we had at harrods and as well as it being incredibly expensive, it was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Whoa - the food hall rocks there…The toilet system seems a little archaic here - no push buttons - all those lever things which require being pulled more than once…I cant really see the stars at night…my house is okay but will revisit on my return - cant be bothered thinking about it now…definitely the location is fabulous - I may be hard pressed to find a place that is a 2 min walk to the tube and directly opposite a shopping centre…lugging round groceries is a nightmare…we have sky tv (like foxtel) so good to relax when I come home as takes about one hour door to door…as I finish at 6, it means I get home at 7 pm which is kinda on the way to bedtime in my opinion…during the week, does not really present much time for going out…ideally I will get a job from 8.30 to 5 next time although everyone seems to start and finish later here…While I like london, I could never see myself living here as the sole purpose of living here…it is too packed, too dirty, too busy, too much banging into people and trying to walk around people and standing on the tube etc…its excitement lies in its endless opportunities (although there are even things that we have but they don't) and its proximity to europa…But on a day like today where the sun is shining constantly, a breeze (dusty though it is) is blowing and you could be quite comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt, there is a definite jump of excitement inside…it is so difficult I guess to capture everything I think of as it is constantly new things…for instance, there was a dachshound on the tube on the weekend (with its owner) - very cool…there was also a lady begging with a baby in swaddling who saw fit to clamber through the doors of two carriages while the tube was going (which is highly dangerous) - amazing…that's it I guess, there is just always something to look at here isnt there? Even in knightsbridge near harrods, I couldn't believe the number of posh cars we saw…ferrari, heaps of porsches, a rolls royce - unbelievable…im waiting to see some celebrity - hope that happens sometime…So this is the tentative itinerary for our trip:22 May Kylie flys in24 may fly to belfastBelfast x 3 nights 24, 25, 26 May
