Two weeks from today we will arrive back in Newcastle. That means we've spent five weeks doing nothing except being on holiday; I cannot conceive how we will ever settle down to ... To what? We are both retired. It is holiday ever after, surely?
Not that our current life is entirely sybaritic; we are spending this week catering for ourselves, so we have to shop and plan meals. Or not, of course.
Today was cool and blustery. After washing up the breakfast pots and making the bed (see, we are still doing things for ourselves) we went out for coffee (look, we had just tidied up!) then spent the rest of the morning strolling round the perimeter of Leisure Isle, looking outward over the sparkly ruffled waves of the lagoon or inward at seriously grand houses (see pic). Lunch in our flat, which I prepared - still in touch with real life - then off on a cruiselet round the lagoon for the afternoon. The guide's commentary combined info and bad jokes, so just like going on a Thames trip?
I am writing this up tonight, after we finished the day in a restaurant eating oysters with Sauvignon Blanc. I can see that adjustment is going to take a while.

Jim Duffus Had to look up sybaritic - bordering on the hedonistic, I shouldn't wonder. Glad you are having a great time. Don't forget it is becoming wintery back home - you'll need to put on your woolies!
