Well, that's it. Car handed back. Cases checked in. Killing time until we go airside. England will be cold and dark, and sad - without my mother - but the memories from the past 50 days will warm not only the winter weeks ahead but the rest of my life with Peter, who made it all happen. BLOG ENDS

Tourists supreme. We got tickets for a hop-on/hop-off bus, and drove round Cape Town and its environs. We also visited a winery, did the tour and then the tasting!

Judith Saxton Just read all your blog in reverse! (The most recent comes up first you see) I went whale watching in Hermanus last year and it was brill! Our boat trip was cancelled but we saw them breaching lots of times from the shore. It was a highlight of my South Africa/Malawi trip. Some snow on Cumbrian fells today - first this year.

Jim Duffus Had to look up sybaritic - bordering on the hedonistic, I shouldn't wonder. Glad you are having a great time. Don't forget it is becoming wintery back home - you'll need to put on your woolies!

Ewan Craig Good to catch up - which I have just done, from the 'start'. Quite a trime of it - when did St Lucia come into the plan (or was it there all along?). Only two days left until half term, at which point we can become just a little less envious of you both! Off to Provence for ma and pa Craig... Sue Snape You seem to be having a wonderful time - have you taken any pictures of wildlife? I am jealous - no ipad and no trip to Africa! However we are going to Alaska next week.

Jill Thanks Susan. I enjoyed reading your impressions but I am so sorry to hear about your mother. How unfortunate as it must have put you into quite a quandary. I did not return for my mother's funeral either as I did not feel the need although I know some people need the closure. I look forward to your next entry anyway.
