Another week has passed and I can not belive how fast time is running right now. The football course in Secunda was cancelled at short notice, so on Monday we had a meeting with the Departments about the Sports and Fun Days. During these days we will be visiting school and do lots of activities with them like , sack race, jumping castles and water slides. The first Sports and Fun Day will be in April and I am really looking forward to the work with the children. Another Monitoring visit took also place this week on Thursday. The community sports assistant was really good and all the children loved his sports lesson. He told us an interesting story, in the beginning he was almost alone on the field and only one or two children wanted to play football, but after a couple of weeks, more and more children were coming, and now he is the coach of about 30 children and even has a team for older men. Last weekend the second phase of the Swaziland course here in White River took place. The course went very well, all the participants are very nice and we all had a good time.
Besides the work, the other volunteer celebrated his birthday last week on Wednesday, which was really cool, we had a barbecue outside and had lots of fun.
On Friday we went with some other German friends to the Mango Lounge, awesome bar a little bit outside of White River. That evening several bands from around the area were playng and we all enjoyed the music and the nice atmosphere.
My plan for next week is to visit Cape town, which I am really excited about. So many people told that the city is incredible and I wanna go there so badly. Already found a nice Lodge where to stay, pretty close to the Atlantic Ocean, because I wanna go surfing, but still in walking distance to the city centre of Capetown. Still need to figure out flights and bus transport, but I am so looking forward to the trip.
More about my plan next week. Take care!
