Durban is nice! Not as nice as Cape Town, but still nice. On Saturday morning we took the bus to Johannesburg and then flew to Durban. From there we took a cab to our hostel which was in the North of Durban. The hostel was very cool, had a huge swimming pool and the rooms were quite spacious. It was still early in the afternnoon, so we decided to head for the beach, which was about 2 km from the hostel. On the way to the beach we passed by the new Wolrd Cup Stadium, it is really nice and pretty pic, I will upload some pictures soon. This is the stadium where also Germany will be playing this summer. The beach was beautiful and we took a dip in the Indian Ocean, the water was so warm and very clean. In the evening we went to Florida Street, where many clubs and restaurants are located and spent the night there. The next morning we we had breakfast near the beach and enjoyed the beautiful view over the ocean before we spent the whole at the beach, in a really cool beach club. The following day we changed hostels, because we wanted to be closer to the ocean and do some surfing. The other hostel was in the South of Durban in a town called Bluff, which is known for great surfing opportunities. We immediately rented surfboards and did some surfing. I have never done it before, but it was great and I had a lot of fun. One of the lifeguards recognized that I have never done it before and gave me some free surfing lessons. At the end of the day I almost managed to stand on the surfboard. For the next day we went to the Gateway Mall in Durban, a huge shopping complex, 300 shops and lots of entertainment oppotunities, they have a climbing rock in the mall and a wave house, where you can do some more surfing. Lots of different restaurants, coffee shops and bars and we really had a awesome day, but I have to say, shopping in South Africa is not as good as in the USA. For shopping I definitly prefer the USA. We have not seen that much of Durban, we drove a couple of times through the city, but itwas very dirty and had lots of skyscrapers. Mots of the time we enjoyed the the beaches and the ocean and the fantastic wheather. The coming day was our last day in Durban and in the morning we went back to the beach, swam for the last time for now in the Indian Ocean, before we went to the airport and flew back to Johannesburg and then again took the bus to Nelspruit. And now we are back to work, next week we have the first Sports and Fun Day, which I am really excited about.
