Driving up the road to the town at the top of the mountain was hair raising. Imagine people trying to overtake on the bends around Chapmans Peak. It's something like that with people overtaking on blind corners, narrow roads and busses and trucks. The driver tells me most of the tourists here are from Gujarat and they come here to get drunk because of restrictions on alcohol in that state. Not a very comforting thought on this road. The highways in Rajasthan seem to be much better than the ones we have travelled on previously. At some points, the driver actually hit 130km/h in a 80km/h zone. It is damn scary since they still tail gate and weave between cars as if they are traveling at their usual speeds of 30-40km/h. These guys don't know how to handle speed! We drove from Gurgaon to Agra in the morning. It is about 5 hours and 220km. Arrived in Agra at 1pm and at 2 we started touring. Tickets for foreigners are INR750 but only 20 for locals. I have not been sleeping well at all in Kashmir. The people in the room next to me and on my floor have their TV's on loud until 1 or 2am each morning. They shout to each other across the hallways. I could hear the guy snoring in the room next to mine and his cellphones ringing unanswered. This hotel is a 4 star and is less than 1.5 years old.
