Morning all
I've been let off work this afternoon by my team mates as I'm having problems booking a hotel for the three nights. Little did I know that it was Chinese New Year Wednesday night and another public holiday on Friday so most of the hotels are fully booked! I'm waiting to see if I can get a room at the hotel I like but through another company!
We had a talk last night by a marine biologist from the UK and our centre's vet. It was really interesting. The marine biologist is based in Gardenstown in the North East of Scotland and I've stayed there!!! Small world.
We had to go banana picking again this morning but when we got there the field had almost been cleared so we only ended up with half a truckful. We now have to pick pineapples tomorrow morning....damn! I thought I might have got out of that!!! At the moment we are in the middle of a torrential downpour, the second time it has rained since I arrived. (Angie, tell Jen it has only rained about 6 times here since November!) It's a good excuse to stay in the internet cafe!
Over the last couple of days we have had more volunteers arrive, some from the UK and a lovely lady from Holland. Another lady, Petra is from Germany and she is hoping to go to Cha-am on Friday so we're planning to meet up there for lunch. Aleady the newcomers are slightly disillusioned and are talking about leaving early to do what I am.... I just hope I haven't started a trend!
I've got over the homesickness I was feeling on Saturday. I think everyone has days when they think about home. I'm missing the boys and wondering what they are up to.
That's all the news for now
Take care
