June and I collected her new car yesterday morning (a Skoda - luckily the Aussie's have never heard of them but I can still remember all of the jokes) and we drove up North to Noosa where they used to live (nearby anyway). It's beautiful there, just how I remembered. Hastings Street is the place to be, loads of lovely boutiques and restaurants. I even managed to lay on the beach for about half an hour before the sun started setting. We were in the bar overlooking the sea with a drink in our hands when it did go down and I honestly thought I would never move from that spot again. It gets dark here about 5.30 although stays very warm. We caught the bus back to her sister's apartment in Noosaville (honestly, the lovliest, most chic apartment I have ever been in) and got changed to go for dinner at a local restaurant I had the seafood (had to of course, being by the sea) and even had Oysters for the first time in my life.
This morning we had breakfast at one of the cafes by the river and then drove home. stopping at Eumundi market. Fantastic place and much busier than it was when I last went 11 years ago. We only had half an hour to spend there which was just as well as still managed to spend money on clothes.
This afternoon we caught the train into the city centre to see Tracy Chevalier at the Brisband Writer's Festival (she wrote Girl with a Pearl Ear-ring).It's been really hot again today but am not havivng much chance to do any sunbathing as have been far too busy living it up. Loving the early morning (6am) walks by the river and stopping for a coffee before coming home for a shower.
Sorry for all the typos and spelling mistakes...it has been pointed out to me and I've gone back and amended them I think. My typing skills have not imrpoved with my much needed holiday but will try in future to read it through before uploading it.
