I woke up at 6.30 having slept okay. June and I took Jack to school and came home to drop the car off. We walked to the train station and caught the train into the city. We did the cultural bit of our holiday to get it out of the way with a quick tour round the Gallery of Modern Art. Very interesting......not! We caught the River taxi and travelled up and down the river looking at all the luxury houses and deciding which one to buy. We stopped for lunch by the river and then walked along the riverbank. I loved the City Beach!!! We must have walked miles by the time we got back to the train station.
We went back into the city in the evening to go on the Wheel of Brisbane. There was no way June was going to go on but I wanted to go and Jack and Ron came too. I thought I would be fine, but by the time we had gone up about 100 feet I knew I had made a mistake! I held the rail with one hand and the seat with the other and kept my eyes fixed firmly on the floor. I was terrified!!! I had to let Jack take the photos. The worst bit was getting to the top and going over because all of a sudden there were no other cars ahead of you.....just the city panorama. It was spectacular and I'm sure the audio commentary was brilliant but I was just too terrified to take anything in. By the time we went round for a 5th time (5 times we went round!) I could actually let go of the seat and hold the camera but was so relieved when we got off. I've just looked it up and it's only 60 metres high compared to the 135 meters of the London Eye which was scary but nothing like this thing.
When we arrived back home, the family had gathered and we had a lovely evening on the veranda eating and drinking.
I love Australia and I think I might stay!
