I'm now back in Brisbane and have only two days left now. We had one hell of a job getting out of Sydney yesterday and didn't get as far as we had hoped and ended up staying in Port Macquarie instead, very nice though..... I stayed here 11 years ago although different hotel!

We were on the road by 6.15 this morning and drove for almost 12 hours, stopping at Sawtell where we watched a mother and baby whale playing in the ocean. We stopped at Coffs Harbour but couldn't find anything to write home about and then carried on the Yamba.

We drove through the middle of Surfers Paradise which is what I suspect Miami is like, a lot of lights and quite sleezy in places. We arrived back in Brisbane at 7pm and have spent a lovely evening with the family recounting our tales. We've travelled nearly 1900 km and I've even driven a very small part of that, in a 1.8 turbo car without hitting anything!

I'm disappointed that the only kangaroos I've seen are dead ones at the side of the road... I've seen no koalas this time either...maybe they've heard about my driving?
