After 3 days in Dallas we're on the road. Deciding to give Houston a miss as other than the space stuff it looks like just another city, we'll do the space thing when we hit Cape Canaveral.
We drove through some very green countryside under another clear blue Texan sky and crossed over into Louisianna. Close to the state boarder, just inside La we found a fab roadside rest area & stopped for lunch.
We decided to break the drive in Alexandria staying at the Ramada. Time to do some laundry which Pete proceeded to hang up to dry out front of our room, his peasant roots are showing lmao. Firmly confirming our peasant status we decided to dodge the smoke detectors in our room & cook dinner out the front of our room on a recently purchased elec skillet, it must be ok, why else would they have out a power point outside by the door? Yummy Texan sausages we bought from the farmers market with some southern sauce we got from the same rancher at the market and salad, also from the same market all washed down with some icy cold Vermont cider.
Now to do some research before we head to Lafayette, Baton Rouge & on to New Orleans tomorrow.

Dee Even your mundane driving, laundry and 'redneck' impressions sound way more exciting than being at home and going to work! If only someone had hit you up about your cooking, would love to hear the explanation you'd have come out with :) xx
Dad Long live Aussie independence !
Sue Thanks guys, not sure what we would've said if fronted about cooking the snags lol we're in a room around the back so were pretty sure we'd get away with it :-) Forgot to say a guy in a big truck (read ute in Aussie speak) pulled up a couple of doors down when Pete was hanging up the washing, got out & he had a hand gun tucked into his pants! We were very polite to him lol Gotta love the Southern states :-)
ann re cooking - at least you were saving their coffee maker! They should be very grateful :)
