So it's Easter weekend and its PACKED in Surfers Paradise, so much so I have to stay 2kms out of town. Surfers has just a load of high-rise buildings and fairly nice beaches making it as commericalised and touristy as any part of Tenerife! After looking, and incidently failing, in finding places to surf, I called it a day and Luke and I got ready for a night on the town on Saturday after all alcohol is banned in Australia on Good Friday.. it was a wild night to say the least!
The next day I headed to Byron Bay, and an even more impossible situation interms of the accommodation, as the biggest music festival was on, the equivalent of Glastonbury in Australia, where alllllll of the hostels are booked out, so I had to head to 30km away to the town of Ballina - and getting the public bus to town every day. Byron Bay is very nice however the hassle, full of surfers and hippies, leading to a very chilled out atmosphere. I checked out the nearby beaches and stood on the most easterly point of mainland Australia at Cape Byron.
After chilling out in and around Byron for 3 days I headed for Sydney.
