Stephen's Travels!
So Its farewell New Zealand and I have had a cracking time here.
The final stages were spent in the best possible way...Queenstown...Its basically where all the fun is centered around and I had so much fun...So much! and like I knew that I would I spent a bomb. The Snow boarding was hard but great fun and I will definately do it again in the future. Its true that you spend alot of time on your arse and yes... I did have a few paddies but in the end I was actually quite good and I made it off the beginners slope and down a more advanced one without falling.I also had a go at Sking but I didn't like it... I had no controle and looked like I was a bit special needs to be honest.
After the Snow boarding the adventure sports started... I went Jetboating through a canyon....really hair raising as you are so close to the rocks and trees.
I did something called "fly-by-wire" This is basically a plane engine that you are kind of strapped to. You then get pulled up the side of a mountain and let go... Then you steer the mini plane/rocket. It was good. I also did the Canyon Swing that i won in the fancy dress comp.... The canyon swing is like a bungy but not as scary and there are lots of ways that you can throw your self off the platform in to the canyon... I picked... "The Chair" as you can guess it involves a chair... I got strapped to it then just like back in school...rocked back off the edge of the platform untill it fell back but insted of the floor you just fall.... It was great.
I loved the bungy that I did in Taupo and so decided to purchace "The Thrillogy" This is a trilogy of bungy jumps... No 1... The Kawaru bridge. This is the first and origional bungy jump opened. It was 43 meters high and a doddle... I did it in tandom with my friend Vicky which was fun. No 2... The Ledge. This is the night time bungy jump. Its set high above queens town and I had to get a sky lift up to the jump point. It was a good jump as you could run off and basically do what you wanted... I was not too scared and did 2 forward flips off..It was Awesome! No3... The Nevis High Wire!............ This is the Daddy! Its 134 meters high and you have to drive over mountains on private land to get to it. You get taken to a big cable car that is suspended between 2 mountains and from there its down you go...Unlike the Bridge where there is water below or the Ledge which is pitch black..The Nevis is just massive ... you can see the 1ft deep stream in the distance just fine and yes I................. s h i t myself but it was AMAZING and the biggest rush i have ever had!
Queenstown saw the end to the Kiwi Experience :( Very sad as I have had a great time and met some good mates but all good things must come to an end. We had a great farewell dinner at an Indian restaurant and plan to meet up in the future.
Before I left New Zealand Me and Jen rented a camper van for 5 days. All in all a good Idea. We went up the east coast to Kaikora to do some whale watching which was good because we saw a sperm whale but bad because it was really choppy and I was really porely any way... I thought it was just another cold but sadly not.. I woke up in the night really disoriantated and confused and really hot and the next day I was like a zomby and couldnt feel my legs properly so I took a trip to the Docs....He was really good and checked me out turns out it was nothing too bad just a bad dose of the flu teamed with a chest infection and a temperature. He gave me Antibiotics that i have just finished today... I feel better but still got some recovery to go...My ears are totally blocked and I still sound like Deirdry from Corry. Oh well Its not like I am never ill now is it.
Fiji next so some nice sunshine and relaxing after 5 weeks of snow and adventure ;)
