Stephen's Travels!
BULA (hello)and welcome to Fiji... Well after NewZealand I set sail for Fiji along with Jen who I met on the Kiwi Experience. We stayed one night in Nadi town which was quite an experience...I forgot what it was like to be in a deprived country. The hostel was soooo dodgy and was all boarded up and had bars at the windows...Not typical for a hostel...we just got screwed over at the airport. It was an experience all the same. At this point I was still ill but far better than I was in NewZealand-the anti-biotics did the trick. The next day we set sail for the islands... and islands they are... So beautiful and look untouched. We went to the furthest point north to a place called Nacula Island. There we Met Vicki who was one of our good mates on the Kiwi Ex. Nacula had a lovely beach and was a great start to the rest. I was really happy that I was with jen as she planned to stay for my Birthday... Unfortunately for me she decided to visit family that were spending some time on the Islands, so I went it alone.
I went to the island that the film "The Blue Lagoon" was filmed and stayed in a really basic hut for a night.. There was no electricity and everything was, how should I put it....Basic! I met a really nice couple there called Mike and Dawn and it ended up that i was heading to the same Islan as they were.... It was called Octopus resort on the Island of Waya. This place was soooo nice and like a nice resort you would pay alot for in the Carribean or somewhere similar. There was a pool and the food was really good. I spent alot of my time with Mike and dawn and did not want to leave to venture to an Island on my own for my birthday... any other time would have been fine but i wanted some company...It turns out that when me and Jen started out we decided that we would go to Beachcomber Island for my birthday as it was the liveliest Island in Fiji. I was wishing that I had picked for a quiet desert Island now but I went to BeachComber.
I was not alone for lond and bumped in to 2 gorls that i met briefly in NZ, Heather and Deb. They were so ace and that night we met brother and sister, Anthony and Mel from Australia. We had a nice dinner the food there was also good and then spent the night in the bar where Heather and Debs introduced me to another brother and sister couple Alex and Jono. The night was good and they were all up for a party the next day.
I woke up on the 18th and met the guys for breakfast. soon after that Heather and Debs saw 2 lads that they had travelled NZ with. Baz and John. They were also up for joining the celebrations. During the day we also got chatting to a couple of girls Jess And Jo and they also spent the night with us... I honestly had one of the best birthdays ever. Everyone was soooooooo nice and really made a massive fuss of me... I had happy birthday sung to me a few times. I was so happy and got sooooooo Pissed! I was sick so many times but that didnt spoil my night. even the dreaded Tequila Turbo! Insted of a slammer I snorted the salt took the shot of Tequila and then sqirted the citus in to my eyes...Not nice and I was sill tasting the salt the next 2 days. Its all good fun. I honestly cant thank the guys enough for making my day and night so special. I was booked in to Bounty Island for my final night in Fiji but I stayed an extra night on Beachcomber with the guys and we had the after party. On the 19th I was nursing my hangover when I noticed a familiar face walk past but it did not register.5 mins later once again I saw 2 girls walk past and it clicked! It was Jo Lewins and Faye Bostock that I used to go to high school with...I could not believe it when i called jo's name and she turned around. Its been 6 years and where do we see each other...on an Island on Fiji that you can walk around in 5 mins...Crazy! It was ace to see them and catch up. Once again Thanks to all of you 11 who I got on so famously with for the brief but awesome 3 days! It was Ace! So L.A next and lets see what America has in store...Bring It on! ;)
