my last week in tena so went out a lot to cram in as much dancing as i could!
on tuesday i was about to start my class at talag when a woman turned up asking the school to go to the community centre. some americans from the church performed a puppet show for all the children in the area and made them all balloon hats! they then did all sorts of prayers in english with the women. i thought it was a bit odd though because the locals were all catholic and the americans weren´t and the locals didn´t speak english.
on wednesday my friend romiro painted my arms with guito, probably a henna equivalent. i´ve got a traditional design on one wrist and on the other arm i have leaves and flowers complete with a mariposa!
thursday was my last day of teaching. all the talag kids made me jewellery. also received a bracelet from one of the kid´s 17 year old brother! it was sad saying goodbye to the amazonas kids. when i left the mothers were all chanting for me to kiss a couple of the older boys goodbye again! found out that i´m on ecuadorean tv, one of the kids saw me, not sure why!
i was supposed to go canyoning on friday but the bridge that needs to be crossed by taxi was no longer there on friday morning due to the rain the night before. instead i went to el arca which has lots of animals to see e.g galapagos tortoises.
friday night, mi ultima noche! some of us went to romiro´s and he and his friends performed some kichwa music, we drank some guyusa tea (for energy!), danced to shakira and learned kichua dancing, both to kichwa music and sort of kichwa hiphop! afterwards we went to our favorite yage bar and then to the discotecha. everyone came out which was great and we danced to the early hours of the morning.
