Kim's European Journey
Well we finally got checked into our room. It is tiny with a sink and really no room to move around, but we are managing. Except for this morning when the showers were so cold that Rachel couldn't wash her hair. I had to suck it up and wash mine if I wanted to feel at all decent today. Apparantly Nick and Ted had warm showers last night so we are going to try their floor.
After we got checked in, we took the Original London Bus Tour around the city. It was really windy and fairly overcast, especially the later half, but the guide was funny and we saw (it seemed like) the entire city. After studying so many of the architectural aspects of buildings and churches in London in art history class, it is really amazing to me to see them in person. We then went to dinner at Planet Hollywood, which was expensive, but we were all so hungry and tired that we didn't want to search for anything else. Rachel and I were intrigued with the way that the Brits use their utensils when eating....
The city was alive last night, but we were in bed by 10. After our freeeezzzzinnnngggg cold showers this morning, we went to "breakfast" which consisted of 2 slices of white toast and orange juice that had a more likeness to apple... but we are getting used to it.... kind of.
We had to cancel our Dublin plans. It is just too expensive, but we really want to spend an extra day in London and we have to buy our expensive tickets to Paris. We are going to try to see Stonehenge or somewhere outside of London, too. Still disappointed we won't be able to go on our pub crawl, but THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT TIME :)
Nick finally came down after breakfast so we are going to catch a bus to see the changing of the guard, take a river cruise that was included in our bus tickets, walk through Trafalgar Square and maybe hit a museum if we have time... Tonight Nick wants to watch the USA vs. Ghana game at a pub... I'm sure we will really stick out then- although the baseball shirt Nick is wearing now probably doesn't help. hehe.
*Hugs*, Kim
