Well we finally made it to London. Rach and I left yestuday around 6 and got in this morning around 10. Nick and Ted had arrived at Heathrow around 7am, so they were luckily waiting for us. The flight was extremely long and we didn't really sleep at all. Once we arrived at Heathrow, we went through customs and (thankfully) found our luggage. One of my biggest concerns was that my bag wouldn't arrive. But it came in one piece. We took the Heathow Express train to Paddington station, which is huge. We then took the "tube" to Piccadilly Circus. It was completely bizarre when we came up from the underground because it was the first of London we saw. Everyone was rushing around. The sidewalks are really narrow and we didn't know precisely where our hostel was, so I'm sure we were a sight to see with our enormous backpacks. It took us quite a while to find the hostel and when we finally did, they told us we couldn't check in until 3pm. At this point we hadn't (still haven't) showered, brushed our teeth, or changed. So we dropped off our luggage, found a place for fish and chips and wandered around the neighborhood. We only walked a few blocks, but walked right into the West End (which isn't nearly as glamorous as I imagined it would be) and into Chinatown. We looked for a bucket shop where cheap tickets for airfare to Dublin are sold, but apparantly they don't exist anymore. Or at least no one we have asked knows what they are. We went back to the hostel to check in, but their internet was down so now we have to check back in a while. ALL I WANT IS TO BRUSH MY TEETH, but gum will have to suffice until then. Once we get settled we are going to hop a "hop on hop off" tour bus that runs 24 hours around the city showing all of the attractions and then grab some cheap dinner.... London is so expensive! I can't wait to see the main sights, but it is pretty cool just to see the difference in culture. I think we're going to call it an early night to get a strong start tomorrow.... at least we made it!!!!
