Roxanne--
Okay, so still playing catch up. We arrived in Bayahibe in the early afternoon and basically just walked around and sat at the bar and had a presidente (the dominican´s bud light). For dinner we were pretty cocky from our expert traveling and forgot mosquito spray and a spanish dictionary. So, we kind of pointed at stuff and got bitten like crazy. Food was decent. We were in our room rubbing itch cream on our bites when stacie spotted a large dark brown insect sprinting in our bathroom. And then for 30 minutes we hunted the cockroach like creature, named speedy gonzales, screaming on our beds. Pretty sure we woke up the whole village but Stacie smashed the crap out of him in the end. Our deal is that if there are insects she kills them and if there are sharks I kill them. Later on in the week our Italian boys incountered the same bug and screamed just as much as we did.
The next day we went to the beach that was a short walk away. Bayahibe is like the village and there are resorts about half a mile away and we went to those beaches. We pretty much swam and developed a sun burn. There we met two Italian guys our age. One spoke a lot of english and the other a little bit. It turns out that Italians vaccation a lot in the DR and we have met many and loved all of them. Also, they have amazing Italian restaurants and Stacie and I have eaten a lot of pasta. The beaches in Bayahibe are BEAUTIFUL. White sand and water as clear as a swimming pool! Also, our picture situation sucks. My camera won´t work (i know stupid) and stacie doesnt´have the cord to hook up her camera to the computer. But, I will sum it up for you- Beaches - beautiful, ocean - beautiful, our room - basic (all though we did have a tv, fridge, and AC) dominican boys - very beautiful (i think stacie will elaborate, her exact words were that she is going to study spanish and come back to marry one of them all though i think we feel the same way about the Italians now.) That night we walked around the village where we gained some tag-a-longs. There was a weird American with curly side burns and he was talking to me, and then a very weird Dominican who only spoke spanish, had one eye, and no teeth was talking to Stacie. I think I got the better end of the deal, but in the end we ditched them both and went back to our room to sleep.
