The second day in the Jungle was filled with laughs and great animal sightings. We woke at six for a two hour hunt for animals during their morning routine. We were only thirty minutes into our search when our head guide Pedro spotted a sloth. How he managed to see the sloth sixty feet in a dense tree I do not know. We quickly went to the tree and our other guide Lorenzo immediately began chopping the tree down. We were all felt a bit guilty because the tree was killed for us to see the sloth, but once the tree was down and the sloth in my arms I made peace with the tree and my conscious. We headed back to camp after seeing only the sloth, still I was happy that we came into such close contact with such a wonderful begin. The rest of the day was filled with a boat trip deeper into the jungle. After three hours we stopped and setup camp at a spot that was much larger and had little trails leading off into the jungle. We hung out most the day around camp and I took a dip in the river. After a wonderful late lunch we went off to fish for piranha. The piranha bit on anything bloody including their own kind. We caught a few but not nearly as many as of guide Pedro the maestro. The night ended with another late night hunt for caimans and this time we had success. The youngest guide Juan spotted one in a tangle on river plants and broken branches. He slowly rowed us over to it and like a stealthy cat pounced upon it with two hands. The caiman was small but nevertheless remarkable and after we all got an opportunity to hold it Juan released back into the water. We arrived back at the camp late and we all decided that six o'clock wake ups called for early sleep. Once again we were tucked away in our tents fighting off a few mosquitos before passing out.
