Leeds City Vixens v South Durham & Cestria
Today's game saw us head to Leeds needing a win to keep us in the title race. The girls kicked off on, it has to be said, a terrible pitch which had been played on earlier but both teams got on with it and tried to play football. SD&C started to control the game and went ahead after a goalmouth scramble through Caz Ross however Leeds won a penalty on one of their rare forays forward but skewed it wide, a bit of a let off for the away team. SD&C didn't waste any time and punished Leeds for their profligacy and scored 2 further goals in 3 minutes through Beccy Hanratty and Lauren Jordinson. SD&C, with 7 outfield players under 17, went in 3-0 up at half time.
HT Leeds City Vixens 0-3 SD&C
Leeds started the second half brightly without really creating any clear cut chances until SD&C killed the game in the 60th minute after a David Luiz-esque 40 yard run from centre half Jen Jennings, going past 3 players, blood streaming from both nostrils, getting to the byline and crossing for Beccy Hanratty to smash home!
The girls saw out the rest of the game quite comfortably finishing 4-0 winners.
FT Leeds City Vixens 0-4 SD&C
The 3 horse race for the title has become a 2 horse one after Bradford City were beaten by Huddersfield Town today meaning SD&C have to beat Huddersfield on the 30th May to pip Chorley for the title.
