We decided to have a bit of a down day today. We were picked up to get the vehicle we are renting for the rest of our holiday - a brand new Ford Kuga which is the South African equivalent of the Ford Escape. It had 36 km on it when we picked it up. We won't use it until Saturday as I am a bit wary of driving in Cape Town - crazy drivers and crazy streets! After we returned to,the B&B, we walked downtown to go to the South African Museum which was quite fascinating - especially the section that dealt with the various indigenous peoples of South Africa. There was a fascinating section on rock carving and painting mostly done by the San people. There was also a large section on the animals of Africa and the various types of sea life along the coast. We spent about 3 hours in the museum and then went shopping for some shampoo and a road atlas for South Africa and Lesotho. Found a pretty good one in a bookstore. I did bring my GPS with South Africa loaded on but the guide books caution on relying solely on the GPS. Tonight we are going to a restaurant called Le Colombe which is supposed to be a gastronomic favorite in Cape Town which is saying something because Cape Town is certainly a foodie paradise. Will report further when we get back.
