Dave’s Travel Blog
This morning saw us up early to pack up our belongings, have breakfast, and begin our trip eastward. Paul, our guide yesterday, had given us great instructions on how to get out of Cape Town. We got onto the N2 highway and went to Somerset West and off at Strand, driving to Gordon's Bay where we drove along the coast to Hermanus where we stopped for lunch. Hermanus is famous for whale watching as the Southern Right Whale comes to this area to have their babies. From there we headed north back toward N2 and then east to Swellendam. We are staying at the Oude de Pasterie B&B in Swellendam. We are both hungry but South Africa is shut down right now as the whole country is watching the Rugby match between the South Africa Springboks and the New Zealand All Blacks. So, we are now watching the game too. Hopefully something will be open later so we can have a bite to eat.
